Prairie Pointe Continues to Excite

The success of Winnipeg’s fastest-growing new home community keeps rolling. Launched in 2015, Prairie Pointe continues to excite the market with location, new home selection and a development plan that ticks all boxes. The leader in new home building permits for several years running, Prairie Pointe will grow again this year with the release of new lots and a fresh development stage.
Located between Kenaston Boulevard and Brady Road, Prairie Pointe is currently servicing Stage 10 in a plan that will see the community grow to 3,000 lots at completion.
“We are releasing another 166 lots this year to keep up with demand,” says David Borger, Vice-President of Development with Ladco, a leader in new home communities, building well-known neighbourhoods such as Royalwood and South Pointe. He mentions that new home builders are now selling from lots previously released in Stages 8 and 9. “Stage 8 at the corner of Waverley and Kenaston will feature 15 acres of multi-family properties along with 147 duplexes and townhomes, whereas Stage 9 includes 127 single-family lots.”
According to Ladco’s Manager of Land Development, Michael Carruthers, Stage 10 is being serviced this year and will see 166 single-family lots added to the mix next year.
Prairie Pointe is close to recreation, shopping and services. “It’s a quick drive to the University of Manitoba or Victoria General Hospital,” says Carruthers, pointing to other attractions such as the Altea Centre and Fort Whyte Alive.
Prairie Pointe offers an amenity-rich package that features parks and linear pathways along the naturalized lakes. For example, a five-acre park off Firestone Drive sports a green space with a play structure, a picnic shelter, and complete with seating, and a new 8-acre park is due to open soon.
“We will be servicing another 8 acres of parks and adding a kilometre to the path network this year,” says Carruthers, noting construction is well under way with completion slated for late fall.
The area is also seeing major municipal infrastructure projects. Carruthers reports that Waverley St. is being expanded to four lanes. Prairie Pointe is also expecting a new school located at the corner of Castlebrook and Skyline Drive. The new 600-student facility will offer dual-track French immersion and English programs. The plan also calls for 74 infant and preschool child-care spots. Construction is expected to commence this year.
The province’s top home builders are working in Prairie Pointe, with many featuring properties in the Fall Parade of Homes. Builders include A&S Homes, Ventura Custom Homes, Hilton Homes, Discovery Homes, KDR Homes, Randall Homes and Signature Homes.
