Inspired by Nature

Nature has always been one of our greatest sources of inspiration. Whether inspired by a woodland trail, a prairie sunset, or a lush garden in full bloom, these organic palettes offer a timeless starting point for any room.

Paint colours are often the easiest way to translate those natural influences into the home. Consider the soft green of eucalyptus leaves, the rich clay tones of terracotta soil, or the warm beige found in weathered stone. These hues can establish a sense of calm while creating visual depth and character. Layering complementary shades drawn from the same landscape creates a cohesive look that feels authentic rather than overly designed.

Some nature-inspired combinations to consider include:

Sage + Terracotta + Sand – a calming and grounded palette that works beautifully in living rooms and kitchens.

Olive + Mustard + Warm White – a retro-modern combination that feels welcoming, energetic, and full of personality.

Deep Forest + Stone Grey + Blush – a rich, dramatic palette ideal for bedrooms, reading nooks, or home offices.

Once the colour palette is established, the final step is bringing those natural elements into the space itself. Live plants introduce texture, movement, and ever-changing colour, while materials such as wood, stone, linen, wool, and hand-dyed textiles reinforce the connection to the outdoors. These organic finishes add warmth and authenticity that paint alone cannot achieve.

When planning a room, begin with a dominant natural tone on walls or larger surfaces. Introduce secondary colours through furniture and textiles, then finish with botanical-inspired accents in artwork, cushions, and greenery. A simple guideline is to use 60 per cent dominant colour, 30 per cent secondary colour, and 10 per cent accent colour.

The result is a home that feels connected to its surroundings – one that captures the beauty of the landscape and brings a curated fragment of the outdoors inside. Through thoughtful colour choices and natural materials, living colour becomes more than a design trend; it becomes a way of creating spaces that feel vibrant, grounded, and deeply personal.
